Lyricist

Lyricist is an AUv3 plugin that facilitates the incorporation of lyrics into musical compositions. It offers the option to vocalize lyrics using the built-in speech synthesizer of iOS or to utilize the included TalkBox effect, which simulates a computerized singing voice.

The plugin organizes lyrics into distinct song sections, including verses, choruses, and bridges. These sections can be sequentially arranged, allowing users to specify the order and precise timing for each part's playback.

Lyricist provides access to a variety of voices included with iOS devices, and users can also download additional natural-sounding voices through iOS accessibility settings. These downloaded options enhance the user experience by allowing selection between different genders and regional accents.

The integration of spoken word in music has a rich history, with artists such as Kraftwerk, Laurie Anderson, and Imogen Heap achieving notable success through the use of synthesized or vocoder-generated vocals.

An optional vocal doubler effect is available to widen the stereo image of the vocals, while adjustable TalkBox parameters permit a broad spectrum of sound customization.

The plugin includes a remote control feature, enabling MIDI data transmission to alter voice pitch or to integrate an audio backing for the vocoder effect. Furthermore, users can embed short codes directly within their lyrics to dynamically change chords or notes during performance, instructing the TalkBox to adjust its pitch accordingly.
